About

Wake Forest Dance Festival

Presented by ARTS Wake Forest, in partnership with the Town of Wake Forest, the Wake Forest Dance Festival brings a day of dance to the Triangle in an outdoor setting. The Festival is a free and open-to-the-public, family-friendly event that utilizes the beautiful E. Carroll Joyner Park for its performances and features regional, national and international professional dancers, along with local rising advanced dance performers.

The Festival was founded in 2017 by Masha Dashkina Maddux (former principal dancer of the Martha Graham Dance Company) and Pamela Stevens (ARTS Wake Forest Board Member). WFDF continues to grow and flourish since its launch, attracting artists from near and far in all disciplines of the art form, as well as expanding its programing to include master classes with today’s leading dance artists, scholarships for summer intensives and outreach to our local community youth.

The mission of the Wake Forest Dance Festival is to bring the community together through the art of dance. The annual free all day event presents works by contemporary national and international choreographers, along with works of historical significance of American Classical and Modern Dance, while featuring international, national and regional artists along with local advanced rising students. The Festival strives to: enhance and nurture local dance students’ artistic education; offer unique opportunities for audiences to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for a variety of styles of dance; increase cultural offerings available for residents and visitors of the Triangle area while making the Town of Wake Forest a destination for dance.
